Working for a city that takes care of its people, land, water, and air
This group formed during COVID to “build back better” at the local level - a recovery that puts people and the environment first.
In our first year we worked on expanding community input on the city budget.
This year (2020-21) the group decided to work on two major campaigns:
Expanding access to community gardens on city land
Expanding fare-free transit in Kingston
Both of these will help us move towards a green future - by producing more local food, and getting people out of cars and into transit options.
Increased city funding for community gardening and identification of spaces for gardens
Free transit systems to promote equity and sustainable transport practices
