Ev'ry Time We Say Goodbye Excerpt.mp4

Ev'ry Time We Say Goodbye

A TTBB barbershop arrangement of the Cole Porter song from the Great American Songbook. This is an early arrangement of mine, so there are moments that are less sofisticated than more modern arrangements. Strait forward with lots of room for interpretation. Suitable for BHS contests.

Grow as We Go Excerpt.mp4

Grow As We Go

An a cappella arrangement of "Grow As We Go" by Ben Platt from his album Sing to Me Instead. This version is for SSAATTBB choir with soloist. It is an exciting arrangement that features a variety of textures, from contemporary a cappella instrumentation, to traditional homophonic choral singing, to a thrilling polyphonic climax.

Happy As The Sun Excerpt.mp4

Happy As The Sun

"Happy as the Sun" by Tyrone Wells arranged for male vocal ensemble: barbershop quartet, contemporary a cappella group, or male choir.  A fun, light hearted love song that is not too difficult to perform.  This could be programmed as a delightful palate cleanser in-between more serious works.  The melody could either be a featured soloist, or a section of singers.

I Am Not Yours

A setting of Sara Teasdale's poem for TTBB choir with some divisi. A beautiful and harmonically rich piece that features an aleotoric section. A challenging piece of music, mostly due to the range of the voices and stamina it requires. Written for the Westminster Chorus.

Available from Sheet Music Direct and Sheet Music Plus.

Lullabye Excerpt.mp4

Lullabye

Back in the late 2000's, I was working on a number of arrangements for Ben Folds pieces for the Westminster Chorus. This contemporary a cappella rendition of Ben Fold Five's "Lullabye" from their album The Unauthorized Biography of Reinhold Messner was completed around the same time, but never performed with that group. They ultimately sang and recorded "Still Fighting It." This is arranged for TTBB chorus with a featured TTB trio. The TTBB chorus primarily acts as accompaniment to the trio of soloists. There is a lengthy "scat" section in the middle of this piece.

Sugar Medley

A TTBB barbershop arrangement featuring "Sugar" and "When My Sugar Walks Down the Street." A fairly straight forward arrangement with some cool moments, but requires stamina. Suitable for BHS contests.

Till We Reach That Day

From the Broadway musical Ragtime. This is a rousing number encouraging communities to come together for social change. An original introduction stitches together famous quotes from civil rights leaders to set the stage for the piece to come. Arranged for TTBB chorus, and suitable for use in BHS contests. Arranged for Voices of Gotham.

What Shall We Do With A Drunken Sailor?

SSAATTBB arrangement of the famous sea shanty, although the arrangement experiments with harmonies and rhythms not normally heard in that genre. It may be cliché to say, but it's super fun! Sung by the Portland State University Chamber Choir at the 2022 Northwest ACDA conference.
