I am a postdoctoral researcher at the Structure Formelle du Langage (SFL, Paris 8), where I am a member of the SiLSA project led by Charlotte Hauser. My current research focuses on adapting existing linguistic assessment tools for sign languages to evaluate language acquisition and reading skills in children acquiring French Sign Language (LSF). I also contribute to research on sign language aphasia, including data collection, analysis, and collaboration with language therapy teams working with aphasic signers.
My research is structured around three main axes: sign language development, sign language kinematics, and the cognitive and neural mechanisms underlying sign language processing.
In parallel, I pursue research on sign language kinematics, investigating coarticulation in both production and perception. Working primarily on LSF, I combine Electromagnetic Articulography (EMA) applied to the visuo-gestural modality with a theoretical modeling approach that integrates sign language data into dynamical frameworks of articulation. This line of research began during my two-year Fyssen postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Cologne (IfL–Phonetics), in collaboration with Doris Mücke.
Building on my previous work on articulatory complexity, categorical perception, and the structure of the LSF phonological inventory, I contribute to the development of laboratory phonology applied to sign languages.
I am also engaged in interdisciplinary research at the interface between sign language and cognition. I collaborate with Giuseppina Turco (LLF, Université Paris Cité) on psycholinguistic aspects of sign language processing, and with the sign language team at the Institut Jean Nicod (ENS-PSL, PI: Jeremy Kuhn) and the Di Liberto Lab (Trinity College Dublin, PI: Giovanni Di Liberto) on neurolinguistic investigations. In particular, we examine the cortical mechanisms involved in LSF processing using EEG methodologies.
