I have been born and raised in Sacramento and have come to care deeply about the direction in which this area is going. The Los Rios Community College District is vital, whether it is providing instruction for those intending to enter the trades or another field directly after attending the District, or preparing students for further education at four-year universities. Both myself and my father attended American River College before transferring to the California State University, Sacramento. My father may not have been able to secure a college education without the affordability and flexibility provided by the Los Rios Community College District, and that education allowed him to begin a successful career in accounting and have a house and family. I myself value my time as a student at ARC, particularly the varied subject matter and professors whom I came to respect and learn from.
