Justin W. Aglio, Ed.D. is the Associate Vice President for Penn State Outreach and Executive Director of the Readiness Institute at Penn State, where he leads strategic initiatives that expand the university’s impact across the Commonwealth and beyond. He has also served as Interim Vice President for Penn State Outreach on behalf of President Neeli Bendapudi, strengthening the institution’s statewide engagement mission through education, innovation, and community partnership.
A visionary leader at the intersection of education, workforce development, and technology, Dr. Aglio brings more than twenty years of experience across K–12 and higher education. His research—“Shifting Educational Pedagogy through the Use of Technology-Enhanced Innovations”—explores how emerging technologies reshape teaching, learning, and student readiness in a rapidly evolving global landscape.
Dr. Aglio is an internationally recognized educator and strategist, having served as a teacher, building administrator, district leader, adjunct professor, and visiting scholar at Carnegie Mellon University. His early leadership helped launch the nation’s first K–12 artificial intelligence program and contributed to his participation in the Presidential Maker Roundtable at the White House. He also co-leads The Global Impact Forum, a national convening that advances economic development, social mobility, and positive societal impact by bringing together leaders from higher education, industry, government, and the nonprofit sector.
Respected for his commitment to innovation and equity, Dr. Aglio has been recognized with numerous honors, including the Pittsburgh Public Schools CTE Community Engagement Award and the Comcast Newsmaker Award. His peers have further acknowledged his impact through distinctions such as Pittsburgh Magazine’s 40 Under 40, the ISTE Emerging Leader Award, the PAECT Outstanding Leader of the Year Award, and inclusion among the EdTech and eLearning Top-100 Influencers.
A frequent contributor to the national dialogue on the future of learning, Dr. Aglio’s work has been featured in Forbes, EdSurge, Education Week, the American School Board Journal, and School Administrator. He has delivered keynote addresses and presentations at leading conferences including ASCD, ISTE, FETC, and OETC.
