This piece was an experimentation of merging photos in Photoshop. I picked four of my photos, put them together, and even altered them to tell a story. In this, we see two mega laser-eye cats emerging from the water, like Godzilla.
Graphic Design isn't just a digital format--it's physical too! I was given a clay tile to carve a design out with (then have it printed on paper), and ended up making this! I left a few places uncarved to give it a feeling of negative space.
I was tasked with taking a nursery rhyme of my choice and making a design out of it. I quickly chose Hickory, Dickory, Dock because I had thought about wrapping the words around an actual grandfather clock.
Another physical piece; I had to trace something over transparent sheets using a special marker (and like before, have it printed on paper), and I chose to trace this thing. I also drew in my own fish. As you can tell, the thing is kinda derpy.
My task this time was to use InDesign to form words around shapes. I had drawn a Yoshi on paper, then decided to digitize it and place it in the circle, with some Yoshi eggs surrounding him inside the diamond. Then, I placed in Yoshi's monologue from the end of Super Mario 64 (typo included).
What happened here was that I started up a light running gag throughout the Summer Program after spotting a bus with "Easter Seals STS" written across it. I eventually came up with the Easter Seal, a sidekick of the Easter Bunny who uses time travel to deliver eggs around the world on Easter. Its uniform is a top hat and bowtie. Our assignment this time around was to create a hybrid of a moose and a zebra as the mascot for a festival in Manchester, NH. I went for a more simple, cartoony anthropomorphic design when making mine. I drew it out on paper first, then I digitized it using Illustrator.
I had originally just distorted the Yoshi image in the middle, the model from Super Mario 64. My instructor told me I should make a full piece out of this concept, thus leading to the creation of...this.
After making the Yoshi piece, my instructor said I should make this concept of distorting character models of Mario characters into a series. I decided to continue with Luigi, another green character.
Finally, of course I had to make a piece for Mario. In the end, I wanted to have this piece go in the middle, with the Luigi and Yoshi pieces placed on the left and right, respectively.
