Jadavpur University Scheduled Castes & Scheduled Tribes Teachers’ And Officers’ Association is registered under Registration of Societies, Government of West Bengal Act XXVI of 1961.

‘The Association aims to ensure social justice and socio-economic developments for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Communities.’

MISSION

A)        Advocacy and Policy Reform -

Advocating the policies to protect the rights and promote welfare of Jadavpur University Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Communities

B)        Legal Support -

Providing appropriate moral and legal assistance to the University Scheduled Castes & Scheduled Tribes Communities

C)    Awareness -

Raising awareness and sensitization to promote inclusivity and respect for diversity.

OBJECTIVES

a.  Advocating for the Civil Rights and action against caste based atrocities towards SC/ST employees

b.  To look after the implementation of reservation policy for employees and service safeguards for the employees

c.   To develop the political and cultural affairs of the SC/ST employees, several seminars, workshops and debate programs will be conducted

d.  To conduct awareness programs in the field of reservation policy for employees

e.   To keep updating of knowledge, good communication will be maintained with the National Commission of Scheduled Castes and the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes

f.        To develop consciousness among the employees of changing issues of rules and regulations and relevant act related to reservation policy, different activities will be formed

g.  To create thought and knowledge exchange programs with other organizations on different issues, round table meetings will be conducted

h.  To establish a Research Centre for the enrichment of SC/ST with prior permission from the competent authority and without profit motive

i.        To publish books, journals or Seminar proceedings, project proposals will be sent to Government agencies and Non-Government agencies with prior permission from the competent authority and without profit motive

j.        To promote the knowledge of science and technology, programs with youth will be arranged with prior permission from the competent authority and without profit motive

k.  To strengthen the youth of the society, different cultural activities like drama, creative writing, song, debate, painting, etc. will be arranged through different institutions

l.        To abolish various practices like untouchability, atrocities, superstitions, etc., different activities will be conducted for cultural assimilation

m. To take up and/or to make awareness programs for agriculture, cultivation, and fishing farm developments for SC/ST Societies

n.  To make general awareness for health hygiene education, professional health hazards, and psychological disorders among the SC/ST population of rural, slum and urban areas, necessary outreach program will be conducted

o.  To distribute medicines and relief among the needy people especially in remote areas during untoward situations, free medicine and other related items will be arranged

p.  To develop and rectify the planning, program and action steps of the Association, the Research and Development Centre will be formed by its members and run them

q.  Outreach program will be conducted to make awareness on reservation facilities, grievance redressal and action needed against different types of violations

r.   Assistance  towards needy SC/ST students should be given those who will be affected due to natural calamities or unforeseen hazards.
