Hello everyone!
Just a little note to say goodbye to our little friends. 😊
We have loved all of your posters you have sent us this week and we have loved seeing all of your sports day activities. Make sure to take a look at our school collage of our positivity posters on our school website and see if you can catch a glimpse of yours! Thank you so much for keeping in touch with us! All of the photos of you guys have kept us smiling and we have loved all of the contact with our little pals.
Once again we would like to say that we feel so lucky to have been a part of your child's journey through their first year at school. They truly are a special bunch and we have enjoyed every second of our year with them - both at home and at school. If you have not already done so, we would love if you could share our little voice message with your child from our blog last week just to say a final goodbye to them. (linked here also - https://drive.google.com/file/d/1YNmNVCnb0lcJ3EYnTin4HOCScAJdlFMI/view?usp=sharing )
A special word of thanks to all of the mammies and daddies who have gone above and beyond during this time at home. We know it has not always been easy keeping on top of everything but thank you so much for keeping us updated with all the beautiful pictures and messages etc and know that it was always greatly appreciated. We wish you all the loveliest of summer holidays and we send our biggest and best wishes to your child in their next new adventure in Senior Infants.
Thank you to all of the children in Room 1 and Room 2 for being such wonderful Junior Infants and for making our jobs so enjoyable this year 😊😊
Best Wishes,
Mrs Brady and Mrs McHugh 😎👋
P.S. Don't forget to keep singing along with Mr. Collins in our end of year song 'This is Me'!

Our Activities for this week:
We are asking all children to complete a “Poster of Positivity” this week. As always there is no pressure to complete this – but we really would love as many of you as possible to send us your submissions. Your poster can contain a positive message, slogan or quote and a picture of all the things that make you smile J You can draw anything at all that has brought you happiness during your time at home. Please send us a photo or scan your image and send it to our email at juniorinfantsteachers@virginians.ie by this Friday June 19th. Every class is putting their posters together to make one big collage of positivity that truly represents how amazing all our children have been during this time!
End of year song: Mr. Collins from Room 4 has recorded the most wonderful end of year song for all our students! The words for the song are all attached below in the resources section and the audio recording is attached for you. We would love for you all to sing along!! Well done Mr. Collins . You'll find the audio recording here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1OWp8o9pT-6z2KO1whZHD7mzeiIk-8Osy/view?usp=sharing (please note: you may have to download the file to your device in order for the audio to play).
Virtual Sports Week: Please see the activities linked below.
Virtual School Tour: We are off to Dublin Zoo! All of you animal lovers and explorers will love this! Please check out the links we have attached:
https://www.dublinzoo.ie/animals/animal-webcams/african-savanna/
Teddy Bears Picnic: Why not take your favourite teddy bear out to your garden to have a picnic! Pick the nicest day this week when the sun is shining and some of your favourite snacks and see if you can get your brothers, sisters, mammy or daddy to come with! Maybe you could read a story to teddy or maybe sing them song. :)
As this is our last full week of school we have tried to reflect this in the activities we have given your children to do this week. As always these are just suggested activities – if you feel it suits your house better to continue on with your books at home – please continue to do so. Thank you to all parents that have worked so hard since we left school in March. Your support and all your efforts are so very much appreciated by us both. Thank you all so much for your continued contact throughout this time. We feel very lucky to have gotten the opportunity to teach your child this year and wish them all the best as they begin their new adventures next year in Senior Infants. Enjoy your well-deserved break this Summer.
Kind regards,
Mrs. Brady & Mrs. McHugh

Anyone who would like to do additional work with your child please feel free to continue with these books also.
Maths:
· This week our theme for Maths is heavy and light.
· Please go through the PowerPoint with your child that is provided below.

As an additional activity to challenge your child you could see if children could order three objects from heaviest to lightest or vice versa.
· Complete the heavy and light worksheet provided below.

· We are sure you have seen some of the beautiful cherry blossom trees that are in bloom at the minute while on your walks. Why not take some inspiration from them and create your own fabulous cherry blossom tree like the picture below! All you need is some paper and pink, purple and white paint/crayons. First trace around your hand on the page and then using your fingerprints/cotton buds dot lots of paint around to create the beautiful leaves. If you do not have paint at home - no problem! Use your crayons to create lots of amazing colours on the tree. Don't forget to send us some pictures of your work - we can't wait to see some of your masterpieces throughout the week

· Gill and Macmillan are the publishers of the English programme that we are using this year called Over the Moon and all the readers are online on www.gillexplore.ie. There are a huge amount of resources available on this website - every month we have a large interactive oral poster to focus on for the theme of the given month and there are games such as eye spy and questions available on this interactive poster. (We would recommend playing around with this by yourself before starting it with your child just to get familiar with the website etc!) Due to the Easter holidays, this month's theme would have been Unit 9 - Holidays and it was going to be split between April and May. The Fiction reader is available under the fiction e-readers and it is called Going on Holidays. There is also a Genre e-reader that is again linked to the topic that we would usually read altogether in class. If you have any problems accessing this website just let us know but as far as we know they have given access to parents using the link below.

As per the email you all received from our Principal Ms. Jordan, we are asking each child in the school to make contact with your teacher this week via the email address provided above. We both really would love to hear from your child in any way that is possible for you. That may be just a message to say Hi, or a picture of your child doing anything they have enjoyed throughout the week or a photograph of any of the work they have completed. We are so looking forward to hearing from you all and seeing what all our Junior Infants have been getting up to. We can’t wait to have a chat with you all through these emails.
With parental permission in the email, these pieces of work will be added to future blog posts to show off the children’s super efforts.
Thank you so much to all parents for your continued support and hard work at home. We hope you and your loved ones are all well and staying safe. We are so appreciative of everything you are all doing. Please keep in touch via email.
