We are happy to announce the next iteration of the annual MARVEL Junior Retreat. The retreat is a unique chance for junior scientists under the umbrella of MARVEL to get to know each other, to learn – in a relaxed, informal atmosphere – and to foster collaborations across interdisciplinary groups. All this is set within the beautiful scenery of the Swiss Alps. If you are PhD student or PostDoc affiliated with MARVEL, you are expected to register. Do not miss this chance to attend the retreat and register now. This year's retreat will focus on entrepreneurship, technology transfer, and intellectual property rights: not only amongst different research directions but also between industry and academia. Junior scientists will get the chance to present their work, exchange ideas and enhance their soft skills. Aside from poster sessions and discussions we will have time to discover the beautiful landscapes around St. Moritz and reset in the hotel spa.
This year's retreat will take place in St. Moritz. St. Moritz is a charming town situated in the Grisons, famous for its scenic landscapes, offering a wealth of outdoor activities amid its breathtaking alpine surroundings. Participants will be accommodated in the Berghotel Randolins. You can find more information about the venue (and how to get there) here. The working schedule of the Retreat can be found in the Schedule tab.
The MARVEL Junior Retreat 2024 brings together young researchers from physics, chemistry and material science research groups working within the Swiss National Science Foundation's National Centre of Competence in Research on "Materials' Revolution: Computational Design and Discovery of Novel Materials" (NCCR MARVEL).
Join us as we embark on a collaborative journey to foster stronger connections and exchange knowledge within the field of material science. Through interactive poster sessions and networking opportunities, we aim to bridge the gaps between different research laboratories, promoting exchange of ideas and fostering innovative collaborations.
By bringing together ideas from academia and industry, our workshop will facilitate meaningful discussions, enabling participants to explore the practical applications of research and forge partnerships that bridge theory with real-world impact. Together, let's break down barriers, share insights, and build bridges that propel material science towards new horizons, driving advancements and transforming ideas into tangible solutions for a brighter future.
With this edition's focus on entrepreneurship, technology transfer, and intellectual property rights, we are excited to have speakers from many different areas of industry to provide their insight into their journey.
