Jr. MARSEF

Welcome

Welcome to the Junior Mid-America Regional Science and Engineering Fair (MARSEF) and Missouri Junior Academy of Science (MJAS) website! The Jr. MARSEF is a science fair for middle school students in grades 6 through 8. For information regarding the high school science fair, please visit the MARSEF website at https://marsef.weebly.com/.

Coronavirus Update

Due to recommendations made by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) with respect to large gatherings, guidance provided by the Center for Science and the Public, and our own desire to keep both students and our volunteer judges healthy and safe, the 2020 Jr. MARSEF and MJAS will be held in a virtual format. The "live" middle school fair that was scheduled for March 27th at Missouri Western State University has been cancelled. Instead, students are encouraged to participate in the virtual fair by following the instructions below.

Virtual Fair Instructions

Jr. MARSEF:

To enter the virtual Jr. MARSEF, please follow this link: https://forms.gle/kfQNUqpHiy56njUH9. Students will be asked to fill out a form where they can type or copy and paste essential information from their projects, as well as upload supporting documents such as photos, graphs, and spreadsheets. Students are also asked to record a digital video of themselves presenting their projects. Our judging panel will review all submissions and video presentations and then determine the winners.

MJAS:

To ender the virtual MJAS, please follow this link: https://forms.gle/xigG1AsWgLegBqjc8. As with the Jr. MARSEF, students will fill out a form and upload their scientific papers, slides, and a video presentation.

Digital Presentations and Privacy:

In the case of both the virtual Jr. MARSEF and the virtual MJAS, student presentations must be uploaded to YouTube and then a link to the video pasted into the form. Every effort will be made to protect the privacy of our participants, and the participants will not be required to provide any identifying information (not even their names) in the video. If parents do not wish to have their children's videos shared with the judging panel via YouTube, the student's sponsor should contact the Fair Director no later than March 20th so that alternate arrangements may be made.

ISEF Rules Handbook:

The Jr. MARSEF is affiliated with the International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF). Please review the ISEF Rules Handbook found at the following link: sspcdn.blob.core.windows.net/files/Documents/SEP/ISEF/2020/Rules/Book.pdf.
