Junior Chess Group Setup on ChessKid.com

In light of the current Covid-19 pandemic many chess clubs are struggling with how to manage their junior chess groups.

This site aims to act as an interim support to chess group coaches to facilitate them setting up "clubs" on the highly regarded chesskid.com website. Chesskid.com is developed and run by chess.com, a world leading chess website. Chesskid.com is dedicated to providing a safe and friendly chess environment for children.

We'll help coaches get junior clubs set up and provide training and support on the chesskid.com platform. If coaches struggle with the technology we may be able to manage things for them.

Chesskid.com provides complete flexibility in the way accounts can be maintained and "guardianship" of children's accounts can be transferred between us and the club coaches. Children's accounts are 100% anonymous and there are no personal details ever loaded on chesskid.com

Here's an overview of how it works:

Here's how it works in detail:

1) The coach enters details about their junior chess club in our "new club request form"

2) We create the "club" in chesskid.com

If the coach creates a chesskid.com account later we can show them how to manage your club in chesskid.com and we can make them the "super admin" of the "club". At that point our involvement can end and the coach can create children's accounts, or we can do it for them and help get accounts for children setup

3) The coach sends our "new child account form" to all the parents of the children in their club for the parents to request a new child's account (one form per child)

Parents enter their email address and their child's name, and select your club's name on the form so that we can activate the child's account and link it to the correct club. We only use auto-generated usernames and never put any identifiable information on chesskid.com - accounts are 100% anonymous

The form is here: https://forms.gle/YFaTGD1HqLeF1Py39

4) We send the children's auto-generated username and password to the parents who have signed up to the coach's club.

The children can then log into chesskid.com to play chess with their club mates, do puzzles or learn from the videos and because they are members of your club they can join matches and tournaments we or the coach set up.

5) We'll help coaches set up matches in their club or help arrange inter-club matches

We won't have any interaction with the children during account setup and will do this through the parent's email addresses. All clubs will initially be setup without any "forums" activated - you can activate these later if you wish.

We'll act as "primary guardians" in chesskid.com for children's accounts we've set up.

If parents wish to sign-up and create their own kid's accounts they can do that and join your club themselves without any interaction with this site.

If parents later want to sign themselves up as "parents" in chesskid.com, we can transfer "primary guardianship" to them for their children.

Once your club is up and running, we will make you a "super-admin" of it and once you are familiar with how chesskid.com works and you don't need us any longer, we'll no longer be involved and will leave your club.
