One of my research goals this year is to publish practitioner-oriented articles, as I believe management research should stay connected to real business practice. I’m fortunate that both of my short pieces have been accepted by leading insight journals.
🆕 My short article for practitioners and policymakers has been accepted for publication in AIB Insights: “Host Government Incentives and MNE Strategy for Market Entry: The Case of the CHIPS and Science Act and TSMC’s U.S. Market Entry.”
In this piece, I highlight the strategic mistakes that leading multinational enterprises (MNEs) can make when entering foreign markets. (https://insights.aib.world/section/1841-article )
I am also working on a related project examining how the CHIPS and Science Act has influenced U.S. venture capitalists’ investments in domestic startups. This is a joint work with Prof. Chuck Eesley of Stanford University. I hope to complete the paper soon and spark greater interest in industrial policy and the evolving dynamics of the semiconductor market. Stay tuned!
🆕 A joint paper with Jelena Tiu (our MBA student) has been accepted to California Management Review Insights. Our paper aims to illustrate the current trends in the advertising market and, more importantly, provide insights on how to leverage generative AI in the digital ad industry. It will be available online soon! Stay tuned!

Fall: Debuted at the JIBS/JIBP webinar. It will also be available as a podcast :)
Spring semester runs fast! Henrich, Andrew, and I started a new field experiment with Korean art residencies to understand artists' networking and performance. The residency program is analogue to startup accelerators by providing young artists with free studios for 9-12 months, mentoring, and group exhibition opportunities. Our recent publication in JIBS naturally led us to delve into the residency program and initiate this field study.
I also conducted a mini-RCT experiment with our GMBA students. I extend my gratitude to Professors Chou, Hsieh, and Jaarsveldt, as well as the GMBA office and our students.
