Juneteenth is also known as Emancipation Day, Freedom Day, Jubilee Day, Juneteenth Independence Day, and Black Independence Day. It marks the date when, on June 19, 1865, Major General Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston, TX, and announced the end of the Civil War and the end of slavery. The Emancipation Proclamation, issued by President Abraham Lincoln, had legally freed slaves in Texas on January 1, 1863, almost 2½ years earlier. Even after the general order, some slave masters withheld the information from their enslaved Black people, holding them captive through at least one more harvest season. Thus, Juneteenth became a symbolic date representing African American freedom.
Juneteenth is a time when we can reflect on the painful mistakes of our nation’s past and work towards racial reconciliation, honoring the day as a time for healing, learning and taking action. Many families honor the day by hosting a reading of the Emancipation Proclamation. It is also a time when we celebrate the significant contributions of African Americans to every aspect of American culture.
By honoring this day, our offices will be closed on June 20th 2022.
We will resume regular office hours on June 21, 2022.
Fall 2022 course registration began on March 28th and will be open through August 21st..

Enrollment Requirements Reminder
F-1 and J-1 students are required to maintain a full-time course load during fall and spring semesters. Full-time enrollment for undergraduate students at Perimeter College means:
FALL & SPRING:
• F-1 students must enroll in a minimum of 12 credit hours;
• Only one on-line course (3 credit hours) may count towards towards a “full course of study" each semester;
For example, an undergraduate student is required to register for 12 credits per semester to maintain full-time status. Of the 12 required hours only 3 credit hours may be online, so at least 9 credit hours must be traditional, face-to-face or hybrid enrollment. After an F-1 student has met the full-time requirement, any additional hours above the required hours may be either regular campus classes or online.
• Change of Status: 12 credit hours required if your change of status was approved after summer semester registration closed.
