Forest Svendgard-Lang (they/them/theirs) is an Indigiqueer trans artist working out of Portland, Oregon.

Raised in Portland, Oregon with their sister, Forest has a Jewish father and Athabascan mother. Forest started creating art at a young age inspired by the art and beauty they grew up with in the pacific northwest. They are happiest out in nature, with their loved ones, or when seeing the world through a viewfinder. Forest works in many mediums including; photography, collage, sculpture, poetry, and illustration. Their work explores their intersections of identity, of what it means to be queer, trans, and a young Indigenous person who grew up away from their homeland.

Forest attended Minneapolis College of Art and Design for a semester where they made many lasting connections to other artists and were given opportunities they cherish like casting bronze. Being in Minneapolis grew their love for museums and in 2022 they paused their schooling at Portland Community College and moved to Flagstaff, Arizona after receiving an internship to work for the Museum of Northern Arizona on their annual Heritage festival. The journey itself and time on the road had a large impact on them and they will not forget their time and ties to the Flagstaff community.

Forest recently returned to Portland, Oregon, and are working on setting up a more permanent space for themselves and their art to grow in.
