A series of bespoke masterclasses for performing artists or arts collectives in Singapore who are starting to produce their own work but feel unsure of the process. This one-of-a-kind programme offers in-depth and practical skills-based training for those looking to professionalise their working methods and gain confidence in planning and realising their artistic projects.
You might be a Singapore-based independent performance maker or member of an arts collectives and
you are new to producing and want a guiding framework; or
you have a little producing experience and want to up your game; or
you are about to embark on producing an ambitious project that will stretch your know-how; or
you want to invest in some producer training but are not able or ready to commit to a full-time overseas course; or
you want to deep dive into a specific area of the producer's work
Perhaps none of this describes you, but you're still intrigued. Customisation is a big feature of this programme. Just get in touch and let me know what you are hoping to achieve.
The masterclasses are structured to meet you at your current skill level and address your specific knowledge gaps. You will create your own programme by selecting the combination of topics and modules that is most relevant to you.
The schedule is deliberately flexible so that busy freelance artists can fit learning in while continuing to work professionally.
Tutorials are conducted 1:1 so that your questions and challenges receive personalised attention. The aim is to go deep and focus on high-quality learning that you will retain and use.
Learning is conducted via a series of modules. A programme consists of a group of modules selected by you. Each module covers one topic and will take approximately 1 month to complete. The overall duration of your programme will depend on the number of modules you opt for.
For each module, there will be 3 in-person tutorials. Before each tutorial, you will be assigned readings and case study worksheets to complete. You should expect to spend at least 3-5 hours on these assignments and self-study to prepare for the tutorials.
Modules may also be repeated at progressively higher levels of challenge and complexity. For example, if you really want to dive deep into the management of money, you may wish to take multiple instances of that module to reinforce and strengthen your knowledge and skills.
Tools and methods taught are directly relevant to your immediate needs.
Concepts are applied to real world case studies and any current or upcoming projects you have.
Particular attention will be given to best professional practices specific to the Singapore context.
These are suggestions for what each module might cover. The actual syllabus will be personalised based on the learning objectives that you identify.
