Fiction

A Little about the Journey ...

I describe myself as a "multi-genre writer." Way long ago, my very first work (which will likely forever stay unpublished) was a set in space sort of science fiction book. I enjoyed the process so much that I decided to do it again. The next works - also scifi - were better, though they're still unpublished. I would consider publishing them someday.

Finally, I wrote Heartfelt Cases. The first three novellas were all written over one summer, so I collected them into a single volume. The cover art's done some serious changing over the years, but the novellas within haven't changed much. Those are Christian mystery. The Keres Case fits that genre too, though that was written much later.

2010 brought me to Ashlynn's Dreams, which I tried to make normal. It sort of morphed into a YA scifi thing, but not a space opera. This is definitely an Earth-bound genetic alteration brand of scifi. The following summers brought me to Nadia's Tears and Malia's Miracles. Varick's Quest came a few years later.

When the Lei Crime Kindle World opened a couple of years ago, I hopped on board, and I've rarely missed a launch since. They're moving to every three months, so that might not last, but so far I've got 7 novellas there and one in the Sydney Rye Kindle World. These are a ton of fun to create, but unfortunately, I don't own the rights to them and can't do anything else like get them on audio format or paperback. They have taught me to love the mystery/thriller genre though. Eventually, I plan to branch out on my own in that genre. Scratched Off (unpublished) is a murder mystery.

What I love about writing for Kindle Worlds could fill a much larger space than this, but in short, they taught me to write projects mid-year. I'd previously confined all my writing to the summers. Several anthology entries, both fantasy and Christian have resulted from that freedom to write while school's in session. Somewhere along the way, Awakening came about as well. That's a YA/MG fantasy story.

Most recently, I've branched into nonfiction. That's actually what brought me to making a Google site. I needed a place to upload the printable versions of the exercises for 5 Steps to Better Blurbs, a nonfiction book aimed at indie authors. My next work in nonfiction will be a study guide of sorts for chemistry students. Might as well make use of the day job I've done for the last 8+ years.

Thanks for taking the time to learn a bit more about me.
