Keeping Mum

Keeping Mum is a black comedy movie which was directed by Niall Johnson. The movie was released in the UK in 2005. The cast includes Rowan Atkinson, who plays the role of Walter Goodfellow. Rowan is probably known to most as Mr. Bean. Kristin Scott Thomas plays Gloria, Walter's wife. Maggie Smith stars as Grace Hawkins, the housekeeper, and Patrick Swayze plays Lance, the golf player.

The movie is set in a small village in Cornwell in the United Kingdom. Walter is the village's vicar and lives there with his wife and his two children. But in this family, there are a lot of problems. The vicar neglects his woman, his daughter changes her boyfriend constantly and his son is bullied at school. They hire a housekeeper to bring order back into the family's life. Grace seems to be perfect: She helps Walter write his text for the convention speech and she manages that the kids at school no longer bully Peter. Furthermore, she also learns about Gloria's affair and she manages to get Gloria and Walter back together. However, it's not all above board because it turns out that Grace is a wanted murderer. And even during her stay at the Goodfellows', she has already killed several people. In the end, it becomes clear that Grace is Gloria's mother.

The movie was funny but also a bit strange in parts because you don't expect an old lady to kill people who annoy her. In my opinion, the movie is worth watching because there is a moral behind the story. You shouldn't neglect the people you love, even if you have a lot to do, because otherwise, it can be too late at some time.
