My second practicum placement was at Franklin Military Academy, an urban school inside of Richmond where I taught art to a 6th grade class. I created several lesson plans and also did some subbing work within the school.

My first practicum placement was at Ruby Carver Elementary School, where for several months I taught the second-grade art class. I prepared my lessons, and materials, and taught the class for a 45-minute class period.

Open Space, Virginia- Volunteer After-School Activity
As a part of my college curriculum, we became volunteers with a program called Open Space, which was an after-school art lesson with a mix of elementary students. We worked outside, taught lessons, and prepared materials for the students all involving nature and the outdoors.

I am currently working as a monitor for the etching studio at Virginia Commonwealth University. I ensure that students do not get hurt while they work during studio hours and help with any questions they might have.

My job was to check out items for students working in the woodshop, repair and clean tools, clean the woodshop, and help students when I could. In this position, I would cut wood and instruct students on projects they were working on, and I was given the opportunity to make many of my own projects.

Charlottesville Waldorf School, Virginia- Teacher Assistant
In this position, I would come before the students arrived and make large blackboard drawings related to their course material. I would also prepare the coursework by making copies and cleaning the classrooms.
