Learning Session Algebraic Geometry (GRK 2240 NonProf Meeting)
Summary: We introduce the fundamentals of affine and projective algebraic geometry over an algebraically closed field. Throughout, we highlight the algebra-geometry dictionary and the heart of algebraic geometry. In particular, we introduce the notion of dimension and smoothness to see this dictionary in action. The accompanying exercise sheet includes exercises on (commutative) algebra, affine algebraic geometry and projective algebraic geometry.

LaTeX and Mathematical Writing (GRK 2240 NonProf Meeting)
Summary: This is intended as an overview for intermediate to advanced usage of LaTeX for mathematical writing. This includes a variety of suggestions and appropriate resources to explore yourself. The final part comprises a lot of (strong) personal opinions on mathematical writing and typesetting.
Unmögliche Mathematik oder wie zerlegt man ein Quadrat in gleich große Dreiecke? (Die lange Nacht der Wissenschaften)
Zusammenfassung: Es ist sehr leicht, ein Quadrat in eine gerade Anzahl von gleich großen Dreiecken zu zerlegen. Versucht man aber dasselbe mit einer ungeraden Anzahl von gleich großen Dreiecken, so erscheint das schon um einiges schwieriger. Tatsächlich ist es unmöglich, eine solche Zerlegung zu finden. Wir werden besprechen, wie man eine solche Aussage mit den Werkzeugen der Mathematik zeigen kann.
