Important Policies

Communication

I will use either email or D2L to communicate with you.

Academic Policies

You are subject to the Academic Policies of Washburn University School of Law. If you haven’t yet read them, you can find them here.

This course is subject to the grading guidelines (curve) set forth here on the school’s website.

Honor Code

As part of the legal profession, you will forever be held to a higher standard of ethical and professional conduct. As your professor, it is my obligation to help instill those standards in you now so that I can be confident that Washburn University School of Law is sending ethical attorneys into the field.

Please review the law school’s Honor Code, which you can find here on the Washburn School of Law website, for a statement of general principles, as well as a list of possible sanctions for Honor Code violations.

Zoom Use

For our class sessions, we will meet via Zoom. I know that many of you (myself included) may not be logging in from a place that is quiet or private. Pets and roommates and family members may wander across the screen or require your attention. If that happens, please know I understand and I ask that you also show flexibilty and good humor to the others in the class. (Though I have a pet snake and if she wanders across the screen, we've got bigger issues to deal with!)

I would ask that you have your video camera turned on during class if possible. I understand that sometimes internet connectivity or other issues may not make that workable. But if you can, please have your camera on.

Let's all be generous and patient with laggy wifi or internet that cuts out. (And for the love, please don't take a screen shot of me if my internet freezes while I'm making some ridiculous face!)
