I’m Juan — an illustrator, writer, game designer, and artist who loves bringing stories to life in every form they can take.

Through my studio, Ashlish Aalin, I explore the space where folklore, imagination, and visual art meet. My work is rooted in mythology, creatures, landscapes, and the quiet magic hidden in everyday places.
My most recent project, An Illustrated Guide to the Folklore of the Isle of Man, blends Caitlyn Fairbairn’s research with my illustrations to celebrate the island’s legends and spirit. Creating this book was more than a project — it became a way to understand this land, its stories, and its people.
Beyond books, I’m developing an indie video game that extends my love for world-building, atmosphere, and creature design. Whether in ink, oil pastel, digital brushes, or 3D modeling, I’m happiest when shaping a world that feels alive.
Photography is also part of my creative life. I previously ran a photography business, and I continue to take photos both professionally and for my own artistic reference — capturing light, mood, and landscapes that later become part of my illustrations and concepts.

I’m always open to new collaborations, so if you have an idea you want to bring into the world, I’d love to help shape it.
