HAIR DISCRIMINATION AFFECTS EVERYONE, INCLUDING YOU:

The Legal Defense Fund outlines discrimination of hair texture as, "policies that prohibit natural hairstyles, like afros, braids, bantu knots, and locs, (that has) been used to justify the removal of Black children from classrooms, and Black adults from their employment." (The Legal Defense Fund).

With a lack of legislative safeguards against hair discrimination, Black individuals are frequently forced to choose between risking repercussions at school or work for their natural hair or investing time and money to adhere to Eurocentric professionalism and beauty standards.

Nobody should be persecuted just for being themselves. The prohibition of African-American hairstyles must cease.

HAIR IS A PART OF IDENTITY

Hair can be an essential part of a person's identity because it allows them to express their personality and explore who they are. Hair choices, such as color, style, or length, can extend a person's unique self.
