Silicon

Silicon is the 14th element and has the symbol 'Si'. Silicon is relatively unreactive and a semiconducter.  Silicon is used in pavements, clays and computer chips. It is found by melting silica and carbon. Silicon is the eighth most common element in the atmosphere by mass. Glass with silica has been used by the Ancient Egyptians since at least 1500 BC.
