As an essay consultant, I work one-on-one with students, showing them how to identify meaningful themes, structure compelling stories, and craft language that engages readers. My work with students is done remotely via video meeting, email, and phone. For local clients, in-person sessions are available. Video sessions are performed via Google Hangout, and all essays are shared via Google Docs to enable efficient collaboration.
The substance of our work begins with an exploration of the message you wish to convey. This will depend on the type of essay and your own interests as they relate to the essay. To identify a topic or theme, we discuss the purpose of the essay, brainstorm themes and ideas for the essay, and how to turn those themes and ideas into persuasive and effective writing.
Outlines are essential to the essay process. After showing you the basics of the narrative structure, I help you develop a paragraph-by-paragraph plan for each essay. This takes time, but the effort will keep you organized and on message while your words freely flow.
Writing your first draft will not be difficult. The outline will give you clear guidance as you turn your words into a cohesive essay. There is no word limit and errors are okay. Once the words are on the page, I help you refine all aspects of your writing, whether it be grammar, structure, or content. Multiple drafts provide you with the opportunity to perfect your message and voice as you create an effective essay.
