JCCC Japanese Shorts Festival
JCCC Japanese Shorts Festival
The JCCC Japanese Shorts Festival (JSF) gives Japanese language students the chance to use the Japanese they've learned to express themselves creatively in a 3- to 5-minute original video short. Students at all schools in Kansas and Missouri that currently offer Japanese language classes are invited to form teams of up to four members, and to write their original scripts, cast the roles, choose their music, sound effects and location, then start filming!
The 1st Annual JSF Screening & Awards Ceremony was held this year on the JCCC campus in the Hudson Auditorium. In addition to the filmmakers from JCCC, KCAI, KU, and WSU, friends, family, faculty and community members were welcomed on campus to watch the student videos, win prizes in an audience contest and enjoy complimentary sushi and Japanese snacks.
Our 2025 event logo (featured on the festival t-shirts, posters and program) was a portrait of the famous kabuki actor, Shikan Nakamura IV (四代目中村芝翫) starring in one of the most popular kabuki plays, Sugawara Denju Tenarai Kagami (Sugawara and the Secrets of Calligraphy).
Be sure to join us next spring for the 2nd Annual JCCC JSF!
