What is Lindy hop?
Born in the ballrooms of pre-WWII Harlem after the explosion of jazz from the 1920s into the 1930s, and captured on the silver screen in such films as Hellzapoppin, this living, breathing worldwide art form is highly improvisational, and grounded in a common dance language that we would like to teach you.
We'll start with the basics, and work at a comfortable pace. In February, we are offering two levels:
Lindy 1a: Start here if you are new to lindy hop!
Lindy 1+: Continue here if you've taken some lessons and you are looking to get your lindy hop to the next level!
Who
Us: Geoff and Liz will be the teachers for the February classes.
You: Come with or without a partner (we will rotate partners frequently during the class), and come open to either leading or following (choice of role entirely up to you; we just ask that you stick to one role within a class once it begins).
What days:
Wednesdays in February -- 2/4, 2/11, 2/18, and 2/25. The latter classes will build on the former ones, but we can work with drop-ins.
What time:
7-8pm: Lindy 1a
8:15-9:15pm: Lindy 1+
Please arrive 10-15 minutes early to get checked in before class starts!
