I received my Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from Tecnológico de Monterrey, Campus Monterrey. This is my 27th year teaching Mathematics; I started teaching Calculus in Cuernavaca, Mexico in 1993 at the Centro de Aprendizaje y Desarrollo (CAD). I taught there for about 16 years, everything from Algebra 1, Trigonometry, Algebra 2, Analytic Geometry, Differential Calculus, Integral Calculus, Statistics, and Computer Science. After that I taught at Tecnológico de Monterrey, Campus Cuernavaca for three years; I taught everything from Algebra 1 to Calculus as well as a Math Remediation course to college freshmen.
In July, 2011 I moved to Denver and taught at STRIVE Prep's Federal Campus (8th grade Algebra two years and 7th grade Pre Algebra one year). I am very happy to be back teaching High School Math and have enjoyed seeing many of my first students in Denver again as Juniors or Seniors.
I am originally from Mexico City and also lived in Monterrey, Nuevo León and Cuernavaca, Morelos. I use to train and teach Taekwondo and was an International Referee for 10 years. I represented Mexico as a referee in competitions in Egypt (1998), Japan (2002 Tokyo World Cup) and South Korea (2004 World Junior Championships). My hobbies are hiking, playing Magic: The Gathering, swimming, and playing video games on my Nintendo Switch, Pikachu Special Edition Nintendo 3DS XL, or on the PS4.
I live with my family in Lakewood, very close to the mountains. My wife is a professional translator who has worked over the past ten years translating TV and movie scripts for dubbing and subtitles, mainly for Disney and 20th Century Fox. Since 2014, she has been teaching AP Spanish Language and Culture and AP Spanish Literature and Culture at STRIVE Prep SMART Academy. Her students have had incredible results in the AP Exam in both courses.
My son, Pablo, graduated from Denver School of the Arts where he focused in Video Cinema Arts. He also plays the guitar and went to the Denver School of Rock, where he had the opportunity to play several shows including twice at Red Rocks Amphitheater. He currently lives in Prague, Czech Republic, where he is going to College studying and International Business major. He is also very much into electronic music.
My daughter, Natalia, is a Senior at Denver School of the Arts where she is in the Stagecraft and Design high school major. Natalia is incredibly creative and talented. Her middle school artwork was displayed in the Jeffco Schools Foundation Art Show three years in a row, and a dragon she made is currently on display at the Lakewood Cultural Center. She has an interest in working in animation and stop-motion films. Next year she will go to college at Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design (RMCAD) to study interior design.
