Nara is home to many historically significant sites, including Todaiji Temple, Kofukuji Temple, Kasuga Taisha Shrine, Kasugayama Primeval Forest, Gangoji Temple, Yakushiji Temple, and Toshodaiji Temple, which are all part of the World Heritage Site "Cultural Monuments of Ancient Nara," as well as the Yamato Sanzan, Omiwa Shrine, and Isonokami Shrine, which are all part of the World Heritage Site "Sacred Sites and Pilgrimage Routes in the Kii Mountain Range."
