JoyJar Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 2026
JoyJar is a little place for all the good in your life. What you write in it is personal, and we’ve built JoyJar so it stays that way.
The short version
JoyJar has no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking.
Your entries are stored on your iPhone and, if you use iCloud, in your own private iCloud account.
We never see, collect, sell or share anything you write.
Who we are
JoyJar is made by Cheryl Sud (“we”, “us”). If you have any questions about this policy, contact us at hello@joyjar.app.
What JoyJar stores, and where
Your entries. When you add a little win or a gratitude, JoyJar saves the words you write, the type of entry, the marble colour and sparkle you choose, and the date. This is stored on your iPhone.
iCloud sync. If you’re signed in to iCloud and iCloud is turned on for JoyJar, your entries are also stored in your own private iCloud account so they can appear on your other devices and be restored if you reinstall the app. This data is held by Apple under your Apple Account and is protected by Apple’s iCloud security. We cannot access it. You can turn this off at any time in Settings → [your name] → iCloud.
Your preferences. Your first name (if you choose to give one), your reminder time, your jar theme and settings such as sounds and haptics are stored only on your iPhone. They’re used to personalise the app and never leave your device.
Widgets. JoyJar’s Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets read your entries directly from your iPhone to show your jar. Nothing is sent anywhere to do this.
What we don’t do
We don’t run servers that receive your entries.
We don’t use analytics, advertising or tracking tools, and we don’t track you across other apps or websites.
We don’t sell, rent or share your information with anyone.
We don’t use your entries to train any artificial intelligence.
Purchases
JoyJar Pro is an optional subscription sold through Apple’s App Store. Apple processes the payment; we never receive your name, card details or Apple Account information. The app only checks, on your device, whether you have an active subscription so it can unlock Pro features. Apple’s own privacy policy applies to purchases: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/
Reminders
If you turn on the daily reminder, JoyJar asks for permission to send notifications and schedules the reminder on your iPhone. No server is involved, and you can turn it off at any time in JoyJar or in your iPhone’s Settings.
Information Apple may share with us
Apple may provide us with general, anonymous statistics about the app, such as the number of downloads. If you’ve chosen to share crash reports with app developers in your iPhone’s settings, Apple may also send us anonymous crash reports, which contain technical information only and never your entries. You can change this in Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements.
Children
JoyJar is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Keeping or deleting your data
You’re in control of everything in JoyJar:
Remove an entry: open it and tap Remove.
Delete everything on your iPhone: delete the JoyJar app.
Delete your iCloud copy: go to Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Account Storage → JoyJar and delete its data.
Because we don’t hold any of your data, there is nothing for us to delete on our side. If you have a question, we’re happy to help.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct or delete your personal information. Because JoyJar stores your information only on your device and in your own iCloud account, you can exercise these rights directly using the steps above. You can also contact us at hello@joyjar.app.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we’ll update it on this page and change the effective date above. If a change is significant, we’ll let you know in the app.
