I am an Associate Professor of Economics at FLAME University, Pune. Previously, I was a Visiting Assistant Professor of Economics at Hobart and William Smith Colleges in New York.
I received my Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Utah, USA. I completed my M.Phil. in Development Studies, an M.Sc. in Economics, and a B.Sc in Economics (Honours) from the University of Calcutta, West Bengal.
My research interests lie at the intersection of environment, development, and gender. My work focuses on the socioeconomic impacts of disasters and climate change, particularly how these events disproportionately affect women in India. I have also examined the role of gender in the political economy literature concerning institutional responses to disaster risk reduction. In addition to my primary research on disaster and climate change issues, I conduct household surveys and behavioral experiments to analyze individual behavior and decision-making in strategic situations.
