Hello. My name is Lorraine Carey, M.S. CCC-SLP. I am a graduate of the University of Central Florida and Texas Woman's University. I have obtained my degrees in their Communicative Disorders programs, both in undergraduate and graduate respectively. I also hold a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from Wheelock College of Education, Boston University. I taught 3rd and 5th grade in the states of Texas, Florida, and South Carolina. I am currently licensed by ASHA to practice speech and language pathology.
I have worked as a speech-language pathologist in the school setting for over 10 years providing therapy in the special education classroom and small group setting for students ages 3-16. I have worked in an outpatient rehabilitation environment with children ranging from ages 3-5, providing one on one therapy. Throughout my career, I have worked with children diagnosed with autism, developmental delays, language delays, articulation/phonology disorders, and intellectual disabilities. During my career as a speech language pathologist, I have had the pleasure of working in our nation’s fifth and ninth-largest school districts, and successfully managed caseloads of up to 70 students. Before becoming a Speech-Language Pathologist, I worked as an elementary school teacher for 5 years teaching third and fifth grades. I gained from that experience the understanding that students have different learning styles and the importance of developing individualized interventions that can lead to positive and effective educational gains in the lives of students.
