-Amy Orsinger Whitehead, Charlotte Symphony Orchestra, flute 2, Davidson College, adjunct flute instructor
My Piccolo was just not playing right so I sent it to Joy to take a look. When I got it back it played better than it ever has, even including a factory overhaul done years ago. When asked who I send my instruments to for repair I always tell people Joy Sears. She's the only one I know who will return my instruments in a timely manner and working fabulously! Make sure the flute fits well in its case. Checking for lateral movement and extra space in the top of the case is a good idea. If you find lateral movement, I recommend adding pieces of paper towel, foam, cleaning cloth, or anything soft that will make the flute more secure.
Please make sure your name and contact information are included. Adding a note of any issues you are having with your instrument is also helpful to me.
It is important to use a strong box with enough room to add packing peanuts and bubble wrap or foam. Place a layer or two of bubble wrap around the flute case, tape it to secure wrapping and place it in the box on top of a layer of packing peanuts. Fill up the rest of the box with packing peanuts so there is no extra movement during shipping.
UPS works best in my area, but any shipping service is fine.
You are welcome to include a return shipping label. I will make it for you on the return if it is not included.
