If you want a rugged, open-ear solution for kids with microphone needs and intense outdoor activities, choose JOWORLDS Open Ear Headphones; if you need deep bass sports earbuds for gym sessions with active noise cancellation, choose TANCHJIM MINO ASANO Tench.
• JOWORLDS Open Ear Headphones: Best for staying aware of surroundings while swimming or running; the trade-off is no active noise isolation and a unique bone conduction sound profile.
• TANCHJIM MINO ASANO Tench: Best for immersive audio and blocking out distractions with ANC; the trade-off is an in-ear design that blocks ambient sound entirely.
• Who each pick is for: The JOWORLDS is for the safety-conscious runner or swimmer who wants to hear traffic; the TANCHJIM is for the audiophile commuter or gamer who wants silence and punchy bass.
The JOWORLDS Open Ear Headphones are built for a very specific lifestyle: one where safety and situational awareness are non-negotiable. Unlike traditional earbuds that seal inside your ear canal, these rest gently on your cheekbones using a bone conduction driver. This design allows you to listen to music while still hearing the world around you—traffic, conversations, nature sounds, or a coach shouting instructions. If you are looking for the best transparency mode head phones available for outdoor safety, this is it. You never have to take them off to hear a car horn or talk to someone passing by.
The durability specs here are standout features. With an IP68 waterproof rating, these headphones are not just sweat-resistant; they are built for submersion. You can wear them while swimming in a pool, hiking through heavy rain, or pushing through a grueling gym session without worry. Dust, water, and sweat are no match for this build. Combined with a 32GB built-in storage capacity, you can leave your phone behind entirely. You can store thousands of songs directly on the device and play high-fidelity formats like FLAC or MP3 without needing a Bluetooth connection to a smartphone.

However, this product is not for everyone. Because it relies on bone conduction rather than a physical seal in the ear, the bass response will feel different from what you might expect from standard dynamic drivers. It does not offer active noise cancellation, so loud environments like busy subway cars will be audible regardless of your music volume. If you need total immersion or absolute silence, this open-ear design will not deliver that experience. But for the active user who prioritizes safety and durability over studio-grade isolation, the JOWORLDS is a powerhouse.
The TANCHJIM MINO ASANO Tench targets the listener who demands high-fidelity audio and the ability to tune out the chaos of daily life. These are in-ear buds equipped with a 10mm beryllium-coated dome dynamic transducer, tuned specifically for deep bass and smooth ultra-high frequencies. If you are hunting for deep bass sports earbuds for gym sessions or simply want to lose yourself in a podcast during a commute, the Tench delivers a rich, immersive soundstage that rivals much larger equipment. The professional tuning ensures a balanced blend of tightness and softness in the midrange, avoiding the harshness often found in budget wireless earbuds.
Where the JOWORLDS focuses on openness, the Tench focuses on isolation. It features Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) capable of reducing environmental noise by up to -45dB. This means you can effectively block out the rumble of a bus engine, the chatter of a crowded office, or the roar of a gym. When you need to stay aware, a Transparency Mode lets you hear external sounds without removing the earbuds, offering a flexible middle ground. Additionally, the ENC call noise reduction technology uses dual microphones with beamforming to ensure your voice comes through crystal clear, even in windy conditions.
The battery life on the Tench is equally impressive, offering up to 37 hours of total playback with the charging case. In standard mode, the earbuds last about six hours, and when you enable noise cancellation, you still get five hours of continuous listening. The inclusion of low-latency gaming mode (0.086 seconds) makes these excellent for video watching or mobile gaming, ensuring audio stays perfectly synced with visuals. While the IPX4 rating protects against sweat and light rain, it is not designed for underwater use like its competitor. If you value sonic depth and noise control above all else, the Tench is the superior choice.

In my opinion, the right choice depends entirely on whether you prioritize safety and versatility or audio fidelity and isolation. If you are buying for a teenager who needs a reliable device for school and sports while staying safe outdoors, I would buy the JOWORLDS Open Ear Headphones. The combination of IP68 waterproofing, 32GB internal storage, and the open-ear design makes it the most practical tool for an active kid who needs a microphone but cannot afford to be cut off from their environment. However, if you are an adult seeking the best active noise cancelling wireless headphones for teens or yourself to enjoy music in a chaotic world, the TANCHJIM MINO ASANO Tench wins with its powerful ANC and rich sound signature.
Yes, the JOWORLDS Open Ear Headphones feature an IP68 waterproof rating, meaning they can handle full submersion and are ideal for swimming. The TANCHJIM Tench only has an IPX4 rating, which handles sweat and light rain but is not suitable for underwater use.
