Welcome to the official website of the 43rd Media Criticism Colloquium, brought to you by the final year students of the Faculty of Communication in Media Studies (Hons) Journalism from the University of Technology MARA (UiTM) Shah Alam. The main theme of this time colloquium is Digital Safety For Journalists: Combating the Rising Threats.

The colloquium was held for two separate days on 23rd June 2021 and 30th June 2021. On 23rd June 2021, there were two events that took place which was Pre-Event Session 1, which includes two famous influencers - Takahara Suiko and Dayana Kemesky as the panelists. While for the evening session, there were student representatives from local and international universities sharing their opinions about cybersecurity issues.

On 30th June 2021, the main colloquium was held with three panelists comprised of - Dr.Kavitha Muthy, Febriana Firdaus, and Ramani Parkunan. The three panelists have shared their personal experiences, pieces of knowledge, interesting facts about cybersecurity and journalism. The participants also enjoyed each session where they grab their chances to ask questions during the Q&A session.

Due to the pandemic, this e-colloquium was held via Cisco Webex, a live streaming platform which is user-friendly in allowing participants to have a direct and personal connection to each panel and audience while discussing issues in a real-time engagement.

Based on the feedback by the participants, this colloquium has achieved the goals which were to spread digital safety awareness and cybersecurity measures in building a secure online environment for future journalists, to explore knowledge on digital security in journalism and the news industry.
