Introduction/Description
The Associate Degree in Media Sciences is a regular 4-year degree program which has been designed to equip the students with requisite knowledge and skills which would help them take an early start of their professional career so that they can earn their living and support their families too.
Note: Candidates holding Associate Degree can continue towards their respective MS 2-year degree program. Or the student can apply for new admission towards any MS/MPHIL 4-Year degree program (Subject to admission eligibility with exemption/transfer of relevant qualified courses) as per policy.
Program Objectives
After completing the Associate Degree in Media Sciences, the students will:
Develop an understanding of the latest trends in the domain of Media and Communications;
Develop communication skills to excel in professional life;
Develop critical thinking towards media development;
Be able to write features and articles;
Be able to critically analyze media contents and their implications;
Admission Eligibility Criteria
Intermediate (equivalent to 12 years of education) with at least 45% marks.
Note
Candidates having ‘A’ levels are required to provide equivalence certificate from Inter Board Committee of Chairman (IBCC), Islamabad.
Candidates having less than 45% marks will be eligible for admission after successful completion of “Zero Semester”.
Course Exemption
Course exemption is not allowed.
Duration
It is 4 years full time study program spread over eight semesters. Each semester has at least 18 weeks duration for teaching and examinations etc.
Assessment of Study Progress
The students’ study progress evaluation mechanism is based on continuous assessment throughout the semester by giving assignments, on-line quizzes, Graded Discussion Board (GDB), mid-term and final term exams. The mid-term and final term exams are conducted at VU’s designated centers and usually count for 80 to 85% of the total marks for a course.
Award of Degree
To be eligible for the award of Associate Degree in Media Sciences, a student is required to earn prescribed number of credit hours with a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.00 out of 4.
