Tea can be roughly divided into 6 categories by their color. The reason that they have different colors is the oxidation percentage of a substance in tea called "tea polyphenols".
Then what is dark tea? How can it exceed 100%?
It's because of the procedure order. All the other tea start the oxidation process before the tea leaves are dried, while dark tea has the leaves dried than starts the oxidation process. The most famous dark tea is Puerh tea.
Oolong is the most popular tea in Taiwan. (Or at least my favorite haha)
All these fancy names you see on the menus are usually different breeds of Oolong. Based on the steps of making them.
Since "milk tea 奶茶“ in Mandarin usually refers to tea with powder creamer, most shops use the word "Latte" for tea with milk.
For those confusing fancy names, I added the ingredients with italic type to let you understand what's inside!
They all refer to the same thing, they are just different translations.
However, there are big ones and small ones. Just to keep it simple I called the bigger one Boba and the small one pearl.
*btw TP Tea only has one-sized boba and I personally think it's medium size.
