Research Agenda
My interest in researching and teaching about education reform emerged during college. While training to earn my teacher certification, I completed hundreds of hours of field work in schools, worked as a tutor, and student taught. My training in diverse communities afforded me teaching experiences in lower-income rust belt areas, leafy suburbs, and rural farm communities. My experience raised questions about whether the emphasis on test-based accountability in urban schools benefitted BIPOC students. Today I continue to investigate whether standards-based reforms promote more equitable outcomes for academically vulnerable students using quantitative research methods.
