Welcome!
I’m Joseph Jung, a Research Fellow in Economics and Management at the Sobey School of Business, Saint Mary’s University. I earned my PhD in Economics from Dalhousie University in 2023. My research sits at the intersection of development economics and political economy, examining how industrial, innovation, and competition policies shape firm behaviour, economic performance, and inequality. I use causal inference and machine learning methods to produce policy-relevant evidence.
Alongside research, I am deeply committed to economics education. I design courses that integrate narrative structure, real-world data, and applied policy analysis to cultivate critical thinking and strong analytical skills.
I am currently on the 2025–2026 academic job market and welcome conversations on research collaboration, interdisciplinary learning, and the future of economics education.
