At LSU I am responsible for one of the three core entrepreneurship courses required for all ENT majors and minors. Specifically, I teach ENTR3012: Intrapreneurship, which is a course dedicated to understanding how to identify and facilitate the entrepreneurial mindset in larger or more established organizations. Prior to my time at LSU, I taught entrepreneurial finance at Siena College and handled a number of lectures in strategy, entrepreneurship and business analytics at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
Regardless of the topic at hand, I try to leverage experiential learning and "real world" exposure as much as possible. With the speed of market evolution, textbook examples are often out of date and students are much more interested in what they're seeing or reading in the news today. Further, in my experience concepts appear to "stick" much more meaningfully if students are asked to do it themselves, so we need to find innovative ways to make that happen. As such, I see my job as a facilitator more than a teacher. Each of our students offer unique experiences and perspective, so I believe wholeheartedly that the classroom environment is much richer when content can be supported by experience, debate and interpersonal activities among the class participants.
Finally, I strive to serve our broader stakeholders and prepare students for the immediate ecosystems they will graduate into. As such, guest speakers, local consulting engagements and commentary on local news are an important way to get students (an myself) engaged in our communities and break up the normal classroom monotony.
Some big news: I was awarded the 2023 Best Untenured Professor Teaching award by my peers in the E. J. Ourso College of Business !
