Personal Testimony:
I was blessed to grow up as a pastor’s kid in middle Tennessee, right in the middle of the Bible belt. I knew the Gospel my whole life, and when I was six years old I walked down the aisle, said a prayer and said I was saved. My parents, Sunday School teachers and many others were extremely influential in my life and discipled me through this. I believed that I had truly put faith in Christ. It was not until years later, but I eventually came to the realization that I did not really know what I meant or what I was doing other than what my friends had done at VBS the week before. When I was 13 years old the Holy Spirit really began to convict me about my salvation. Through this conviction I was drawn to a true relationship with Christ Jesus. I responded to the prompting of the Spirit and became a Christ follower in the summer of 2008. I publicly professed my faith later that Summer in biblical Believers Baptism.
Throughout high school, under the guidance of my own father and my youth minister, I grew in my walk with Christ and even felt like the Lord was calling me to ministry. Later in high school and into college, however, I did not walk very closely with the Lord on a daily basis and was not living the life that Christ had called me to. I had decided to move on and after a few changes of my degree program, I decided I would become a lawyer. During my senior year in college I began to take my walk with the Lord seriously and He was faithful to let me grow closer to Him daily until He finally reminded me of that call He had put on my life many years before, which was to serve Him and the local church in vocational ministry.
In April of my senior year, I obediently responded to the Lord’s leading and with the support of my local church, I surrendered to the call of ministry. After graduation in May, following God’s leadership, I enrolled at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary where I earned my Master of Divinity in May 2021. Since then, my family has been engrossed in full time ministry at our church. I began working toward another degree at Southwestern in the Summer of 2023, and planned to graduate with my ThM in Pastoral Ministry from SWBTS in December of 2024. However, through a variety of circumstances I have transferred to Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary to finish my ThM in Applied Theology. I still joyfully anticipate graduating in December of 2024.
Philosophy of Ministry:
I believe that all true believers in Jesus Christ are called to full-time ministry, while some are specifically called to vocational ministry. I believe, based on Ephesians 4:11-13, that it is the duty of those called to vocational ministry to prepare the body of believers to serve God in their lives and to do so through the local church. Regarding pastoral ministry, I believe that it is the duty of the Lead Pastor to lead the entire congregation and fellow staff in discipleship and growth in preparation for Ministry Work.
The Lead Pastor should work to instill a heart of evangelism, missions, outreach, discipleship and worship in the heart of the entire congregation. It is incumbent on church leaders to develop and emphasize a Great Commission mindset among the Body of Christ by faithfully living out the Great Commission in their own personal lives. Pastors should meet the requirements listed in 1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9, and 1 Peter 5:1-5.
Meet My Family:
My wife, Audrey, and I met in June of 2019. We immediately hit it off and began to date with the intention of one day getting married. We were blessed to get married in October of 2020. Oh the joys of wedding planning during a global pandemic.....
When we got married we lived in Seminary housing while I finished my MDiv degree at SWBTS. We were ministering at Crossmark Church in North Richland Hills, TX during these earliest months of marriage. In March of 2021, I accepted the call to be the Student Minister at Matthew Road Baptist Church in Grand Prairie. We were able to move out to Grand Prairie in May of that year and have been here ever since!
Audrey is a part time Licensed Professional Counselor. She has used her career to minister to her many clients, both in the field of adoption, as well as clinical mental health. Aside from Jesus Christ, Audrey is the most precious resource God has given to me for the work of ministry to which He has called me. I am thankful for Audrey's love, wisdom, and patience as we serve together.
In January of 2023, God gifted Audrey and I with our firstborn! Jack Samuel made his appearance on New Years Day and has been one of the most constant sources of joy in our lives. We love our little boy a ton and want to soak up as much time with him as we can.
Our family is far and away the most important aspect of our lives outside of personal walks with Christ.
