Joseph Bundala serves as Global Product Manager at ENGIE Energy Access (now Ignite Energy Access), leading hardware product introductions across nine African countries, including Nigeria, Tanzania, Rwanda, Uganda, Zambia, Mozambique, Benin, Ivory Coast, and Kenya. He is responsible for initiating product concepts, conducting market research, developing business cases and pilot strategies, as well as launching new products across multiple countries. Previously, he served as a Senior Engineering Associate at the Access to Energy Institute (A2EI), a nonprofit R&D organization focused on advancing solar technologies in developing countries, promoting productive energy-use solutions, and introducing clean cooking innovations. He led the A2EI R&D laboratory setup, defining the test equipment and tools required for product testing
His expertise encompasses Product Development Processes, Research methodologies, and Project Management within the Renewable Energy sector. He also possesses technical literacy in Modeling and Simulation, MATLAB, PV System Design and Pricing, Data Analytics using R, Telecom Systems Integration, C Programming, GNU Octave, LabVIEW, and Embedded Systems & Electronics.
He acquired his Master of Science in Automation and Control Systems Engineering from The Silesian University of Technology in Poland. In his Master thesis titled Control of Electric Motors using ZedBoard, he designed an Autonomous Ground Vehicle with the aim of simulating power usage of Direct Current (DC) Motors when an engine is run by Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) or an Advanced RISC Machine (ARM) processor. Furthermore, he graduated his Bachelor Degree in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering at The University of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania with honors.
