Jorge Rodas

Short Bio

Jorge Rodas (Senior Member IEEE) was born in Asuncion, Paraguay in 1984. He received his B.Eng. degree in Electronic Engineering from the Universidad Nacional de Asuncion, Paraguay, in 2009. He received his M.Sc. degrees from the Universidad de Vigo, Spain, in 2012 and from the Universidad de Sevilla, Spain, in 2013, and his joint-university Ph.D. degree between the Universidad Nacional de Asuncion and the Universidad de Sevilla in 2016.

In 2011, he joined the Laboratory of Power and Control Systems, Faculty of Engineering, Universidad Nacional de Asuncion, where he currently serves as Professor. In 2017 he joined the Power Electronics and Industrial Control Research Group of École de Technologie Supérieure (Montreal, Canada), under the supervision of Prof. Maarouf Saad, for a research stay. He serves as an Associate Editor of Elsevier Alexandria Engineering Journal (AEJ) and Guest Editor in the MDPI World Electric Vehicle Journal and frontiers in Energy Research. He served as Guest Editor of MDPI Energies. In 2020, Prof. Rodas received the Paraguayan National Science Award. He has authored and co-authored two book chapters and more than 100 journal and conferences papers.

His research interest focuses on applications of advanced control to real-world problems. Current research activities include applying model predictive control and nonlinear control to power electronic converters, renewable energy conversion systems, electric motor drives, and robotic systems (especially unmanned aerial vehicles)

  • July. 2020. Prof. Rodas was awarded by the National Council of Science and Technology (CONACYT), for a research project of an amount of Gs. 500.000.000.




  • May. 2020. Prof. Rodas has been elevated to the grade of "Level II" by the National Researcher Incentive Program (Programa Nacional de Incentivo a los Investigadores - PRONII), National Council of Science and Technology (CONACYT), Paraguay.


  • May. 2020. Prof. Rodas is coauthor of one (1) paper accepted in the MDPI Aerospace (Impact factor 1.57).






  • Jan. 2020. Prof. Rodas has attended in representation of the Paraguayan Government in the Technical Meeting on Topical Issues in the Development of Nuclear Power Infrastructure, 28 - 31 January 2020, Vienna, Austria.
