As a former elite gymnast and multisport athlete, I have first-hand experience dealing with a variety of injuries. Over the years, I received "band-aid solutions" that addressed my pain, but not the root cause of it. After years of recurring foot, knee, hip, and back pain, I was seen by an Athletic Therapist who looked at my body as a whole -rather than isolating my area of pain. Going forward, we were able to correct the root cause, and years of chronic pain no longer impacts my everyday life and activities.
This experience from a young age has influenced the way I practice as both an athlete and now a practitioner. I understand the impact pain has on not only athletic performance, but your ability to enjoy life. I am dedicated to understanding the condition of both your body and injury to create a well-rounded treatment plan.
I currently hold my Honours Bachelor of Applied Health Sciences degree and am a Certified Athletic Therapist CAT(C). Throughout my degree, I wrote a review paper on Treadmill Training to Decrease Gait Variability in Patients with Parkinson's Disease. I have won an institutional and national award for my writing and am continuing this research by pursuing a Masters of Applied Health Sciences degree at Brock University!
Outside of Athletic Therapy, I dedicate my time to the gym, running and spending time with my family and dog!Â
