The spot offers a view of RWY21L arrivals. From here, the planes are quite high up, so shots will mostly be of the belly of the plane.
This spot is down a dirt road just off of Hay Road. The intersection of Burke and Hay Road is roughly where runway centerline crosses the roads. Drive all the way down the road to get the least belly in the shot.Â
If going from the south side of the field to the north side of the field, expect it to take around 20 minutes to drive.
From here, you're not that far from the planes. A focal length of 300mm will work here, but to get a more head on shot you'll need focal lengths up to 600mm.
This spot is good for mornings. The runway has light on it from sunrise to 1-2PM from October through early April. During the summer, planes will be tail-lit in the morning. The closer to 1PM, the more the planes will be nose-lit for RWY21 ops.
