Through my high school's volleyball team, I was able to learn about what it means to be a true team player. I gained the ability to anticipate the needs of others, as necessary with such a fast-paced and cooperative sport as volleyball. In times of overwhelming stress, I discovered the value of clearing my mind and trusting in my capabilities.
I acted as an assistant coach for the Mavericks Youth Volleyball Team, where I use my previous experience with the sport to help teach the players about the game and help them practice their skills. I work with the players to develop a healthy competitive mindset, where teammates can set each other up for success, and to instill a sense of personal discipline and resilience.
In the CSF program, I am able to help the students at my school with their academic pursuits while also showing appreciation to the school's staff. I tutor struggling students who are seeking support through the program.
I act as the secretary of the Physics Olympiad Club, where I work to organize meeting times, meeting topics, and recount the information shared in previous sessions to those who were absent. I also help to recruit members into the club. Just last year, I was able to bring in over 25 students into the program.
During my time as a member of the robotics team, I was stationed as part of its fabrication unit, where I learned how to use heavy machinery in a safe and appropriate manner to augment pieces of metal. For our robot, I designed and prototyped its claw mechanism. In addition, I researched to find which material was best for the craft's bumpers.
