Biography
Joohyun Lee is an assistant professor at PKNU in the department of Architecture. She holds a PhD in architecture from Texas A&M University, College Station. Dr. Lee's research interests focus on sustainability and Evidence-Based Design (EBD). Her papers have been published in Building and Environment, Journal of Green Building, Journal of Building Engineering, Sustainability, among other peer-reviewed venues. Dr. Lee worked 10 years in practice prior to joining PKNU to enhance the link between research and practice.
Dr. Lee’s current research encompasses practical, everyday studies aimed at social ramification, such as the energy performance evaluation of public rental housing, the effectiveness of green remodeling, and support programs for white roof installations. It also includes a cross-temporal study exploring the intersections between Frank Lloyd Wright’s architectural philosophy and contemporary principles of sustainable design.
Beyond academia, she serves as a key advisory member on several design review committees for the Busan Metropolitan City and its affiliated district offices, playing an active role in shaping the urban environment. Driven by a passion for linking theory with practice, Dr. Lee is committed to advancing the discourse on sustainable architecture in both scholarly and civic arenas.
