I am a mass spec engineer who graduated from California State University of Fullerton (CSUF) in 2011 with a BS in Chemistry. I then worked as an analytical chemist in a natural product testing lab for five years, where I learned a lot about pharmacognosy, phytochemistry, and analytical analysis. My expertise was in protocol writing, authoring and reviewing SOPs, laboratory notebook documentation, training others, and data analysis. I always offered to take on more and more challenging projects, which refined my skills into what I know today.
I then completed a MSc Chemical Research program at University College London (UCL). While attending school, I became a member of the UCL Chemical Physical Society (CPS) and the Royal Society of Chemistry (MRSC). My research there involved quantum computational analysis and photoelectron spectroscopy to study anions in nature. This research was published in the RSC's Journal of Physical Chemistry and Chemical Physics (PCCP), May 2018.
These skills eventually led me into my current job, a Sr. Field Service Engineer at Waters. After leaving London, I settled in the California Bay Area where I began work at Waters doing HPLC repairs and qualifications. After five years, I relocated to the San Diego area when I am currently working on mass spectrometry instrumentation at Waters.
The job has been a wonderful learning experience, working at major pharmaceutical companies on UPLC and MS instrumentation. I am comfortable working with advanced instrumentation and complex projects. My key strengths include excellent organization, strong mathematical skills, managing complex projects, troubleshooting, and the ability to quickly adapt to new procedures and techniques.
I look forward to what these skills and experiences will bring me in the future.
