At Proof School, I led a group of high schoolers in exploring a spin-off of Conway's Game of Life that we call Conway's Farming Simulator (link under construction). In this game there are 3 cells types: water (blue), soil (brown), and plants (green). The rules governing cells of a given color are identical to the original rules of Life, except with the following additional rules.
At Proof School, I led a group of high schoolers in exploring a spin-off of Conway's Game of Life that we call Conway's Farming Simulator (link under construction). In this game there are 3 cells types: water (blue), soil (brown), and plants (green). The rules governing cells of a given color are identical to the original rules of Life, except with the following additional rules.
- If rain and soil emerge simultaneously in the same space, that space becomes a plant.
- Plants never die.
- Plants are considered to be neighbors to any adjacent cell.
As a data analyst at University of Miami, I developed visualizations of rainfall data at volcano sites to aid in analysis of the impacts of water pressure on volcanic activity. Here is an example of those visualizations for an active volcano in the Galapagos named Fernandina.
At NASA, I utilized the mathematical logic of sheaves to develop local path-finding algorithms, enabling routing protocols across disconnected networks. Such technology would be useful, for instance, in having independent satellite internet systems for Earth and Mars.
