An MDOCS Golden Acorn Awards best documentary winner, Gender: a kid's perspective features professors, teachers, and children and explores their understanding of gender norms, roles, and expectations. In particular, children were asked to draw two stereotypically gendered professions: preschool teachers and firefighters. In addition to the drawings, the documentary emphasizes empirical psychological research related to children, gender stereotypes, and gender backlash.
This interdisciplinary project was completed in conjunction with the Skidmore Psychology department as well as the John B. Moore Documentary Studies Collaborative (MDOCS).
As part of a longitudinal study on pre-k science engagement, I animated science lessons teaching friction, gravity, buoyancy, and transparency. All lessons are available for free!
