As a historian of early America, I write mostly academic articles that appear in peer-reviewed, scholarly journals. These essays can be accessed here.
I also published my first book, Muddy Ground: Native Peoples, the Chicago Portage, and the Transformation of a Continent with UNC Press in 2023. This history explores the ways in which environmental and geographic factors shaped cross-cultural contact between Native peoples and incoming Europeans. You can read more details about the project here.
I occasionally write other short pieces for non-academic outlets and those can be found here and on my Substack with a free subscription.
